Your Information
Privacy Notice
Training records are personal. This page states plainly what we ask for, why we ask, who can see it, and how long we keep it.
Version 1
1. Who We Are
Sling & Stone Defense-Training, LLC is a firearms and personal-safety training provider based in Chicago, Illinois. This notice explains how we handle the information you give us through this website.
Questions about this notice, or requests about your own information, go to inquiries@ssdtrain2protect.com or (312) 912-2137.
2. What We Collect
We collect only what we need to run a safe, lawful training program:
- •Identity and contact details: name, email address, phone number, and mailing address.
- •Emergency contact: the name, relationship, and phone number of the person you want us to call.
- •Course-related answers: experience level, dominant hand, handgun ownership, FOID status, ARC completion, and training goals — used to place you correctly and to confirm prerequisites.
- •Accessibility and medical notes: only what you choose to tell us so we can accommodate you safely on the range or in the classroom.
- •Agreement records: your typed signature, the waiver version you signed, the date, and your photo/media consent choice.
- •Payment records: the amount, date, status, and processor receipt reference. We never see or store your full card number.
- •Feedback you submit through a post-course survey link, and any message you send through the contact form.
- •Basic website analytics (page views and referrers) through Google Analytics.
3. Why We Collect It
To register you for a course, confirm prerequisites, contact you about your session, keep you safe during instruction, issue your certificate, collect payment, and keep the training records a licensed instructor is expected to keep.
- •We do not sell your information.
- •We do not rent, trade, or share it with advertisers.
- •We do not share it with other participants.
4. Who Can See It
Access is limited to authorized Sling & Stone staff who need the record to do their job. Nothing you submit is publicly readable on this site.
We use a small number of service providers to operate: a managed database and file-storage host, an email delivery service for confirmations and reminders, and a payment processor for card transactions. Each receives only the information required for that specific function.
We will disclose information if required by law, by court order, or where necessary to prevent imminent harm.
5. Testimonials & Reviews
Survey feedback is private by default. A response is published on our testimonials page only after we mark it for display, and it appears under a first name and last initial or a display name you provide. Tell us at any time if you want your testimonial removed.
6. How Long We Keep It
We run a scheduled retention process that removes or archives older records automatically rather than letting data accumulate indefinitely.
- •Raw intake submissions from the registration and consultation forms are cleared once they have been processed into an active record and the retention window has passed.
- •Accessibility and medical notes are removed once you have no active or upcoming registration and the retention window has passed.
- •Second-participant invitations are cleared after they are completed or revoked.
- •Signed waivers, issued certificates, and payment records are retained as permanent training and financial records.
7. Your Choices
You can, at any time:
- •Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you.
- •Ask us to correct anything inaccurate.
- •Ask us to delete information we are not required to keep as a training or financial record.
- •Withdraw your photo/media consent — this does not affect your registration.
- •Ask to be removed from non-essential email. Confirmations, reminders, and safety notices tied to a course you are registered for will still be sent.
8. Children
This website and our courses are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 through this site. Minors train only when arranged directly with the instructor and enrolled by a parent or guardian.
9. Changes to This Notice
If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and change the date below. Material changes affecting active participants will also be sent by email.
To request a copy of your record, a correction, or a deletion, email inquiries@ssdtrain2protect.com or call (312) 912-2137. You can also review the technical safeguards behind these commitments.
